Cheatham Consulting Launches

by admin on July 19, 2010

Cheatham Consulting, LLC officially launched today to provide expert witness and consulting services for the construction and surety industries. With offices in Washington, D.C. and Kansas City, Missouri, Cheatham Consulting will serve clients nationally.

Bill Cheatham will serve as Chairman; his son, Chris Cheatham, will act as managing partner. Prior to founding Cheatham Consulting, Bill served in various positions with Zurich North America’s underwriting department. While president of Zurich Surety, Bill led the company through an organic marketing strategy that resulted in it becoming the second largest surety worldwide.

Bill began serving as an expert witness and consultant in 2009. He has represented sureties, contractors, subcontractors, brokers, agents and CPAs to evaluate underwriting and bonding best practices and provide expert testimony.

Bill also works with construction companies – both big and small – to identify new market opportunities and risks while maintaining or pursuing bonding capacity.

As managing partner, Chris will steer Cheatham Consulting to grow alongside the construction and surety industries. Chris was previously a construction attorney at Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald in McLean, Virginia and a government contracts attorney at Crowell & Moring in Washington, D.C.

Chris was one of the first attorneys to become a LEED Accredited Professional, a designation for individuals who thoroughly understand the green building certification process. Since August 2008, he has published the acclaimed Green Building Law Update, a legal blog, to help contractors, architects, sureties and insurers recognize green building risks and liabilities.

Chris will continue to work with clients to prepare claims, identify risks and locate new market opportunities.

“We are committed to identifying problems and creating solutions for the construction and surety industries,” said Bill Cheatham, chairman of Cheatham Consulting.

Bill and Chris,

I don’t need your services, but want to send best wishes on this enterprise. Certainly, both the construction and surety industries need folks of your calibre. I’m sure you will make a great team.

Good luck….Jay
